Week 3: Amalfi Coast

3 days, 3 places, 3 incredible experiences! This weekend I took a trip down to the beautiful Amalfi Coast with a few of my new study abroad friends. During this trip, we stayed in a hostel that was high up in the mountains and had an astonishing view (as seen in the sunset photo). On the first full day there, we took a bus and ferry to Capri where spent the day on a boat, riding all around the island, swimming in the sea, and even going inside the Blue Grotto – this is a one-of-a-kind experience! On the second day, we visited Positano where we spent the day on the beach, soaking up the Mediterranean sea and sun; we also did quite a bit of shopping as well as tasting of their lemon-flavored drinks and ices. The view of the pastel-colored homes was breathtaking and made for a great photo-op (as seen in the bottom right photo). On the last day, we took a break from the oceanside and visited Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius. While in Pompeii, I learned a lot about the history of the villages and architecture. Despite the hike up Mount Vesuvius being incredibly exhausting, I made it all the way up! The views of the volcano and the city/town itself was one of the most wonderful views I have ever seen with my own two eyes. Even though the hike left me dusty for the whole bus ride back to Florence, it was a 10/10 and I would highly recommend doing this hike at least one time in your life is you are able to. After this unbelievable weekend, I am left with a full heart and a fatigued body; time to rest up and plan my next adventure!
