During my time at the University of South Florida’s partner study abroad college Florence University of the Arts, I met a pastry chef student when I was spending my time at the FUA’s café called Fedora.
Winnie was born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan. Winnie has always had a passion and love for cooking and baking since she was a little girl. Her journey to FUA’s Fedora first began when she started a culinary program in back home in Taiwan. After two years studying culinary in Taiwan, Winnie started a foreign exchange program with her school that moved her temporarily to Florence University of the Art’s. Winnie worked at Fedora Café during her exchanged program of a year and loved it. She told me that she loves Florence so much that she decided to continue her studies in Florence with FUA and not go back to her university in her hometown. Winnie’s favorite thing about Florence is how it is big city but has a small-town feel. There is so much diversity in Florence, especially with food, if you happen to get tired of pasta you can easily find a variety of foods from different cultures.
Winnie’s plans for the future is to finish her studying culinary at FUA for the remainder of her two years. After, she would like to become a culinary teacher but, she is not she where exactly she would like to teach. I am so glad I got to meet Winnie and I hope I can see her again in the future!
see you in the next blog post! 🙂
