Week 2 “A Royal Experience”

London was the last destination of our journal. London was a key destination for our business program, “Doing Business in Europe” since it is a financial center worldwide. However, this post has nothing related to finance or business. This post will highlight the British culture from my perspective. London is a unique place, full of brilliant highlighter; however, the most impressive experiences in London is being able to see and experience the royal attractions. The most iconic sites are the Buckingham Palace, the current home of Queen Elizabeth and home of UK sovereigns. Buckingham Palace has an outstanding Changing of the Guard ceremony that you cannot miss. Next, my favorite place, the Crown Jewels are located inside a vault at the Tower of London, and you can see them up close there. After entering the vault, I was taken aback by the glistening jewels that were on display. Being so close to the crowns that kings and queens wore throughout history was a humbling experience, and it definitely made me feel like a royal. Then, Windsor Castle is the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world. It is open to visitors throughout the year. Founded by William the Conqueror in the 11th century, it has since been the home of 39 monarchs. What strikes many people used to visit historic ruins or attractions with a ‘preservation’ or museum-like atmosphere is that Windsor Castle is in pristine condition and fully working. There around 150 people for whom Windsor Castle is their home, the Queen herself is in residence many weekends. London is an exciting city, with diverse cultures. So don’t think twice before going to London
