Hi, everybody! My name is Danna Delgado, I am an Ecuadorian student living and studying in the United States and I am going abroad this summer to the beautiful city of Florence! I have always wanted to go to Italy, and my dream will become a reality thanks to USF, USF Education Abroad, and Global Citizen Project with the Global Explorers Travel Award.
I am excited and scared of the fact that in one week I will be in Italy (and jet lag is real). I have an international student for three years now, but I have never been in another continent besides America. So, I am actually scared to pass by the Bermuda Triangle!
But, to be honest, I am more happy and excited than afraid. The idea of walking through streets that probably have a thousand years and are still well conservated and in use thrills me! I am excited to know that in one week I will be in the birthplace of Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael and more important people who have contributed highly in what culture is today. They have shaped the way we think of art and the way we think of artisans today.
I will stay in Florence for six weeks, and I know that won’t be enough for me to be satisfied. Italy is full of wonders and secrets. From the Vatican and Constant to the Medici and Machiavelli… Italy has it all! And much more I am pretty sure I don’t know about.
I know this experience will shape me and shape the way I see the world forever!
