Top 5 Things to do in Paris

Paris, France is a global center for art, culture, fashion, cuisine, and history. I’m about halfway through my study abroad program, and there are still so many places to go, things to see, foods to try that I have yet to do. However, I have experienced some incredible places and moments in my first two months of living here, and I am going to share my top five things to do in Paris.

  1. Visit Sacré-Cœur. This is the most peaceful spot I have come across in Paris. I enjoy sitting on the stairs on a beautiful day and looking out at the city for hours. Often times, there are musicians playing, creating a peaceful, relaxing environment.
  2. Walk the Gardens of Verailles. Versailles is such an extravagant place, and the gardens were one of my favorite parts about the Château. The patterns of the gardens are aesthetically pleasing and intricate. There are so many different paths to chose to take in the gardens, making for an adventurous and pleasant walk.
  3. Try the pastries. There are a variety of delicious and fancy looking pastries–try them! There’s anything from chocolate to fruit desserts and there are Boulangeries on nearly every street corner. Walking by the sight of these every day is a real test of self-control!
  4. The Eiffel Tower, of course. It may be cliché, but it really is a beautiful sight. It took me a month of living in Paris until I actually visited the Eiffel Tower. My favorite time to see it is at night, where it sparkles at the beginning of each hour. The best view, in my opinion, is to the right of Theatre de Chaillot in the 16th arrondissement.
  5. The Louvre Pyramid. Outside The Louvre Museum is the giant glass and metal pyramid surrounded by three smaller pyramids. I enjoy finding a spot to sit and take in the beauty and intricacy of the architecture of both the pyramid and the museum building itself. It is a large open, exquisite spot to relax.
