Off to Kansai Gaidai University in Japan!

Hello all, my name is Chelsea, and I am an exchange student at Kansai Gaidai University in Hirakata, Japan and a history major at the University of South Florida. I’ve been accepted for the Mark and Kay Orr International Affairs Study Abroad Scholarship. I’ve always been fascinated with Japan and Asian studies, and I am so grateful I’m able to learn about this country’s rich culture and history IN THE ACTUAL COUNTRY. I hope to learn more and become more fluent in Japanese.

So I had a rough start getting into Japan. Flights were cancelled and sleep was lost. But I did make friends at the airport with other Kansai Gaidai students and people on the flight were extremely kind. Travel is always rough, so I won’t let that ruin my experience in Japan. I’ve already made so many friends that regretfully I can’t remember some of their names. I’ve already explored a bunch as well, thanks to the school and my host family (who is so amazingly amazing but all my pics of them are above 2MB =[ ).
