Montepulciano and Pienza: Cheese pairing and… Twilight?

Today I went on a field trip to Montepulciano and Pienza where I tried different types of local wine and pecorino cheese (made of sheep’s milk). Montepulciano is a wine town on the side of a hill (lots of inclined walking). Fun fact about Montepulciano is that the main square was actually where Bella Swan (Kristin Stewart) ran through the fountain to save Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) in the Twilight Saga: New Moon. I really had the chance to appreciate the wine from Montepulciano because I saw the passion the winery owner had for this art. I tried Rosso di Montepulciano and Vin Santo; both were delicious. Pienza is a tiny town known for its pecorino cheese. We tried many different varieties and I think it has a very unique flavor. My favorite part of this trip is seeing the passion Italians have for their food and wine along with the authenticity of everything.
