I have been in Peru now for five days. I spent two days in Lima before heading out to Carhuaz on an eight hour bus journey. While in Lima, I got to enjoy the comforting presence of wifi and it is something that I am sorely missing (as sad as that is). No more spontaneous googling for this gal. However, not having access to internet has allowed me to rely on my own instincts as well as working on my Spanish skills. Speaking of Spanish, my language abilities are woefully inept, but this is something that I am working on and hopefully will get to basic conversation level by the time I leave! WORD OF ADVICE FOR FUTURE TRAVELERS: start planning your summer/semester abroad early with your country in mind that way you can start preparing basic language skills.
Here is a photo from Huaca Pucllana. This is a pyramid from the site of the Lima culture, about 200-700 A.D. Highly recommend visiting this archaeological site if you find yourself in Lima!
