The Mighty Mount Vesuvius and Amalfi Coast

Wow! What a weekend! Just when I didn’t think things could get any better, I went on a trip with my friends to Naples where we explored parts of southern Italy.

Our first stop was at the Naples National Archaeological Museum where we saw works of art, like this piece of pottery, recovered from the Pompeii site. With over 300 works on display it was great to see the unique approach to life this culture had back in 79 AD.

Next we hiked to the top of Mount Vesuvius and saw a beautiful view of Naples from above. With the sun going down, the city and coastline looked surreal from so high up.

On Sunday we hopped aboard a bus for a drive from Sorrento to the Amalfi Coast. Living in Florida my whole life I seen a lot of beaches, but none quite like this one. Amalfi featured the most amazing view I’ve had in my entire life. The mountains along the shoreline made the scene look like a piece of art more than an actual place. After laying out and enjoying the sun, we headed back to Florence, ending a long but exciting trip. A little over half way into our trip and we’ve already been to so many great places. I can’t wait to see what Venice has in store for us this upcoming weekend!
